An ode to the Alphabet Pals

Yes, we are taking another journey into the glorious era of my 1980s childhood. I previously wrote a post discussing some of my favorite tapes/books that I had as a child, and my mother jogged my memory about my other childhood love: the Alphabet Pals.

Yes, I followed the adventures of Zak and Amy and all of the other pals in book form and tape form. I even had the puppets. What's sad is that I can't find these anywhere on web, just a few random websites with one or two of the books, not the whole set. Which is a tragedy...

Zak and Amy, I was always rooting for you two, even though one of you is a monkey and one is a bunny. I think it would be better than the Miss Piggy/Kermit the Frog union hands down.

All of my glorious alphabet friends unite to help me know my ABCs. This is why I am a genius today.

There you have it kids, the secret to my mental prowess and acuity lies with these special animals. If you happen to find them, holla atcha girl mmk?

Those are awesome. If I ever land me a kid, I'm gonna find these books. Don't worry, I'll buy some for you too.

These are now available in bits and pieces and sometimes nearly complete sets on eBay. It is still very popular.

I had a complete set as a child, and now as a homeschooling parent I would like to have this available for my littles. They are nearly impossible to find.

I will give EBay a try.

I just found my family's set of these books. Missing a few books. But it was still in the big box with some tapes and those cards that you used the jumbo pencil to select the correct answer. So many childhood memories. Keeping them for my daughter.

I was just thinking about my alphabet pals set. I had all the books, the tapes, and the puppets of Zak and Amy. They were my entire world when I was four years old. I'm really bummed that I can't find them anywhere now. I'm pretty sure I still have a puppet stored in a box somewhere.
