And maybe inputting said books into a spreadsheet.
not exactly how it looks... but you get the idea
Which felt great, in case you were wondering.
(Perhaps a real photo of said project will be forthcoming... if I don't get mocked too much, that is. He hee.)

I put mine in color order. Took me forever until I thought it was perfect.
You aren't the only crazy out there. :)
What? This isn't OCD. I had recently resolved to do the exact same thing. I want to catalog our books and where they are located so that I can easily search and see what books we have. After my catalog is complete I will make a list of all of the books that I want added to my collection. (That list will also be prioritized.)
No, this is a fabulous idea. Then you know what you have, and can keep track of your books when/if you lend them out. And you can avoid what happens at my house all the time: Ryan will say: I want to read such and such. And I will say: We own that book. Such confusion and miscommunication would be alleviated if only I would follow in your footsteps. And yes. We want to see pictures.
Lauren~ You're adorable! I love your OCD, and wish I had a little of it. You won't appreciate the fact that I decided last night that the tupperwear/glass bowl/pyrex etc. cubboard needed to be cleaned out, when I opened the cubboard and a glass bowl came crashing to the floor. Hmm... time to clean out that cubboard.
That is totally something I would do!
Heehee, that makes me smile. I don't even bother anymore though because it's a rarity for a book stay on the book shelf for an entire day with my two chaotic crazy kids.
