i am loving...

ee cummings. his form is so expressive, free and beautiful. his conceptual understanding of love is so wonderful and oft times quite poignant. i fervently wish i had a gift so incredible. i obviously enjoyed "i carry your heart with me" so much that i made it a permanent fixture on the blog. here is another one of his brilliant works that i completely adore:

somewhere i have travelled,glady beyond

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look will easily unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully ,suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

Enjoy.

First off, love the item of the day. I wish I could have it. I wish I could FIT into it.

Next, I see why you love EE Cummings. If someone asked me what I thought love was, or to describe it, I would have them look up some of his works. I love that there are people out there who are able to voice what I'm feeling. Saves me some energy.

Yes. I am THAT lazy.

Sigh. Love E.E. Cummings, also. Oh, melt my heart with that last line; this is one of the only poems in the world that can talk about roses and not be cliche. I think I shall go check e.e. out of the library...
