grief comes in waves...

it ebbs and flows like the tide. one minute, you're wading in peaceful waters, the next, a huge wave crashes down on you and pulls you under and you can't breathe.

and you get a lot of sand in your swimming suit.

Loved this analogy. Very poignant, and I chuckled at the end. I hate sand in my swimming suit. but you are wise to allow yourself to feel the ebbs and flows; it will help to heal.

Since I am in no way as graceful with words as you and our dear Shannon, I will just say that I understand what you feel to a degree and my heart hurts for you. Shan is right, you are wise to allow yourself to feel the ebbs and flows; peeps like me have to pay big bucks for Shrinks to make us feel it.

Oh, and you know I love you.
