I love my husband... I don't love belligerent drunks

Can I tell everyone how great Greg is? Okay, I realize I already do that a lot... but he is SO great and he is really thoughtful and sweet. For the good old v-day, he surprised me with tickets to the ballet and brought me flowers at work. And he made a delicious dinner (yes, my man can COOK) before we went out.

We had a great time at the ballet, and were really entertained by the odd couple behind us that clapped at EVERYTHING and acted like they were hardcore aficionados of the ballet. I'm going to say doubtful on that one. It was a beautiful and charming version of Cinderella, and it was really wonderful that Greg made the effort to get me something he knew I'd love and appreciate. Needless to say, we had a phenom v-day.

On to this morning, the time, around 8:11 a.m. Lauren v. yet another drunk homeless guy in search of a bathroom. Even though I still get that familiar pit in my stomach when I see such a person come through the doors of the building, I can't help but laugh at all of the experiences I have had up at the front desk. Today's was as laughable as it was intimidating.

Enter inebriated homeless man: "You gotta bathroom?" Standard reply: "I'm sorry sir; we have no public restrooms available." Inebriated homeless man: "I'm not public, I'm a 'lectrician, work for Kennecott-- the biggest [indecipherable phrase] mine and this is America and I'se not public." Repeat standard reply. Inebriated drunk guy now joined by slightly less inebriated friend: "Well imma just go pee on your sidewalk. Heh heh heh."

Said inebriated homeless man then proceeds to sprawl out on the front steps with a gynormous bottle of liquor, and guzzle it for the next 40 minutes, coupled with intermittent smoking of course. We call the cops. A cop comes, has to call for back-up, and battle with him for another 20 minutes. It made for quite the entertaining morning. Thank goodness I have a window now. I'd sure be disappointed if I had to miss any of the shenanigans that happen right outside the door.

In my humble opinion, it's about dang time they moved the men's shelter to somewhere a little more secluded. Like Siberia. Just a thought.

PS Adam just asked me if I would LIKE to go to the ballet with him. I said probably not with him because he would hate it so bad. Then he asked if I would like to go by myself, or with Chelsea, or my mom, or some other dude with a small package...this is why I would never enjoy going to the ballet with my husband. I am glad that your husband is a little more mature. Happy V-Day.

Sounds like you had a great V-day. I wish I could say the same. But your story made me laugh and I needed that. I love you! I hope you can come down next week. I really want to see you.
