in the throes of monday woes.

this morning started off early, at about 4:55 (in the a.m.) when my husband awoke to use the restroom. i am a light sleeper and thus always wake up when he does, and found that i also had to use the facilities before drifting back into two and a half hours of much needed slumber.

after returning to the softness of my bed, i was dismayed to find that sleep did not immediately return, for there were quiet voices penetrating my consciousness. at first, i thought it might be a conversion held outside that was permeating our blessed bedroom, but as it got louder, i was disheartened to discover that this was not some whispered conversation held outside. no... it was something much worse...
a clock radio.

whomever decided it was a good idea to have the radio serve as his/her alarm should have, at the very least, set said alarm at a decent decibel level. for this radio continued to play (and get progressively louder) until approximately 6:15 a.m. our walls are thick, but not that thick.

my slumber, irrecoverably disrupted, returned for about a half an hour (a very restless half an hour), and then it was time to rise and face a monday morning crisis at work. (i decided i shouldn't look at my work email on my phone anymore... well at least in the early morning.)

needless to say, for the majority of the morning i felt rather... disgruntled.

(at least this db didn't wake up to glenn beck.
then it would have been on like donkey kong.
and you can quote me on that.)

p to the s... the only thing that saved my morning is the fact that i am wearing these lovelies. which were an anniversary present from my honey. it's amazing how a great stiletto can save the day. seriously. i might have lost it otherwise.

Ugh, I am so sorry! I thought you were saying as you drift to sleep, you hear voices and I thought, "me too!" But no? I'm still the only crazy? It's not like clear conversation, but just indistinct chatter - and once I hear it, I know I'm almost asleep. Is that so weird?

Sorry about the bummer day and hooray for shoes that make it bearable. Does it make me the significantly less classy of the two of us if my shoes du jour are black flip flops? Yes. Yes it does.

Ok the other night I woke up to go to the bathroom-and was of course so excited to see it was only 4 am, meaning I have a few more hours of sleep! Upon climbing into my bed and snuggling up to Brit, I too heard a VERY obnoxious noise. I thought it was a random alarm in another room in the condo, and after walking around for a minute and nearing the window I realized it was a damn cricket. I hear him most nights now and am reminded of the Friends when Phoebe's cop boyfriend shoots the bird outside his window. I have similar fantasies with this cricket...

Holy hell, you have 99.00 shoes--- that your husband bought you? Oh to have an income or two. I confess, I would not have those particular shoes, though I believe you when you say how much you love them. Enjoy being rich and needing stilettos.

And Chels, I love love love that episode of Friends; I believe it is the one with the ball. Lauren and I watched it no less than a hundred times. So classic.
